Today was the first lecture of the Master Gardener Program of which I am a trainee. Gardening has all sorts of health benefits including stress reduction and a pretty good calorie burn. I’ve read that gardening for 45 minutes burns as many calories as 30 minutes of aerobics (I’m assuming that some of those gardening calories burned comes from running from bees or spiders?!).
I’m actually a little freaked right now since our class today, taught by a Virginia Tech entomologist, was about all different types of unnerving bug activity that goes on in the garden, including predatory activities like one insect laying its eggs in another, who then uses their live (for now) host as a food source, etc. (as if I didn’t have enough trouble sleeping as it is!). I’m not really sure how gardening is supposed to reduce stress (assassin bugs, really?) as I’m pretty certain that I never want to go outside again….except that apparently there are bugs inside the house that are pretty weird themselves….!

Ewww! I hate bugs…
I’m with you, after hearing all that, I believe I’d be hiring a landscaper! Lol
